It will be a total bolt on. The Kiwi inlay in Paua is just a bit of fun , and should be viewable through the soundport 
I installed the C.Fox style two piece liners , which are made from walnut and Tasmanian Sassafras caps. 
The Myrtle back with nothing on it. Should really pop later on. The top is Englemann. Thanks for looking and a very merry Christmas to all ! Craig Lawrence |

Craig, That's super neat work there. Those linings look cool with the two different woods. Two tone side braces as well. Are the 3 tone bars because it's a 12 string or just what you felt was needed to voice that particular top? That myrtle looks stunning. With something like Z-Poxy and suitable finish it will really shimmer. Lovely stuff

Thanks Dave. Yeh , the side braces are Walnut and Tas Sassafras as well. I figure a soundport is also a peep hole ,so I tryed to make the inside visually interesting. I debated with myself on using a third tone bar , but because it's a 16 " lower bout twelve string , and after checking Taylor's ,I decided to go for it. Ended up with very small dimensions though at about 5 X 6 m.m. I'll once again finish with U-Beaut hardened shellac . The Myrtle was a dream to bend . The sides are 2.5mm (.1") thick. I'm trying for a lively top ,anchored at it's perimeter by very solid sides , so as to loose as little energy from the top as possible. |

Looking good! Your work is exceptional and clean. I really like the idea behind the smaller bodied 12's. I owned a Taylor 754 and it was the best, well rounded 12 string I have owned. I plan to tackle this myself after I have a few more builds under my belt. I'll probably come knocking on your door with plenty of questions when I get there 
Who supplied your myrtle? I love the look of the blonde mid-section. |

Very nice work indeed. I see you have followed through with the braces from the sound hole to the neck block. Is this another way to counter any chance of the sound hole area imploding? Good to see the robust bracing on the back lower bout area. I look ofrward to seeing the finished article. Impressive and clean work! Tim Aust Tonewoods |

Thanks Paul, Chris and Tim. The body is a sort of Grand Auditorium of my own design, which I find comfortable , yet still have a 16" lower bout . The Myrtle was supplied by L.M.I. ( many many thanks you guys ). I asked them for the best they had ,as at the time, it was going to be used as my first build .They certainly looked after me ! I love the stuff ! No pores to fill either 
My first has a Lowden type A Frame too Tim . I wanted a total bolt on as well as the A Frame and came up with this design , which I'm very happy with. Makes the headblock area plenty strong . The A frame braces are 1/2 " tall , so I notched them, and the transverse to receive them . Craig Lawrence |

Many thanks for all those favourable comments guys (and Lillian too of course ) Yes John , I have the braces as light as I dare. Your reassuring words are welcome thanks Colin . I do consider the longevity of instruments ,and so it is a fine line to get the balance right. This one has a rather deep body to hopefully balance out the twelve string 'jangle '. I have also reduced the soundhole area to lower the internal frequency. It's a 13 fretter with a 24.9 " scale , which puts the bridge a bit further into the lower bout and decreases the leverage on the neck , as well as aid the weight distribution. Martin , Don , Hesh , Lillian, Tom, Andy , Carlton , Ron , Anthony and Mike ,, you folk are being too kind considering the standard of your own work. Your encouragement is very much appreciated. Odd, how I started out on this one to be a more simple build .

Craig the more I look at that the more I like it!, I think it should be awesome, with a very pure sound with the attack that you need from a 12, they can sound awefully muddy those braces are sweet. Did I say I like it? Colin |
